Angellos Glaros lives in Nanaimo, as tropical a climate as can be found in Canada. He is inspired by the materials, and the richness of his coastal environment. Angellos' work reflects the color and life that can be seen around Vancouver Island. His earlier work derives from the First Nations influences which remain dominant on the West Coast of Canada. Angellos has begun to find his own coastal style, and works in a variety of sculptural media to create pieces of stunning beauty and life. Glass, wood, metal, stone - all elements of natural forms: sand, trees, ores, and rock - all reveal their stories to Angellos' skill. The life force of animals and plants are imprinted on each of his pieces.
